Candle Making Recipes for Balloon and Beeswax Candles

So, you want to make your own candles. But how do you get started and what is the easlest approach? The final answer is...the 2 candle making recipes below.

We know how daunting the prospect of creating candles on your own for the first time might be, but with the candle making tips we have provided it will be sheer fun.

No stress, little mess. And did I include having "fun"? Of course I did!

Candle Making Recipes - Balloon Candle

Grab a balloon, some wax, paraffin or regular, and a wick. That's it - Let's get started.

Use a double boiler to melt your wax to a temperature of 165 - 185 F degrees. Dip a water-filled balloon into the wax and pull it out quickly, allowing it to cool and set. Repeat until a 1cm thick wax crust forms around your balloon. Deflate the balloon and take it out of the candle's center.

Add in the warm wax, rotating around the shell continuously until the interior is almost fully covered. Insert the wick and pour the remaining wax, holding wick until supported by wax that has firmed by cooling down. Your wax creation is complete!

There is even a simpler candle recipe...

Candle Making Recipes - Beeswax Candle

Grab your scissors and a sheet of beeswax and some cotton wick. Fold and cut beeswax in half. Select one of the sheets and place the wick on the long side with about 1 inch of wick extending past both ends of the beeswax sheet.

Use your fingertips to gently roll the beeswax around the wick. Make sure the wick is secure. The heat of your hands will help create a seamless seal. Tightly roll the beeswax making sure it is straight to the very end.

Once reaching the end, meld the seam into the candle body by running your warm fingertips along the seam. Trim the wick at both ends. The one that is to be your base, cut flush against the wax. The other end, which will be the top of your candle, snip the wick to 1/4 inch above the wax.

See? I did not steer you astray! Quick, simple and painless. Not to forget to mention fun, fun, fun and very self satisfying! All that is left to do now is to show off your beautiful creations!
